World Tour Goes to Pacific

The HLS Vanguard pulled into the port of Vancouver.  The Lord Protector had planned this trip carefully.  It was a display of his willingness to travel for meetings with the world while at the same time showcased the flagship and pride of the Navy.  He descended from the deck to meet with the Pacific representatives.  It was time for contact to be made.

Chancellor Kallon, Fleet Admiral Manning, and several Members of Parliament would meet the Lord Protector on the dock.

"Lord Protector Snow, I am Chancellor Kallon. This is Fleet Admiral Manning; let us welcome you to the capital of the North Pacific Federation."

"It is a pleasure to meet you Chancellor Kallon and you as well Fleet Admiral Manning. Sadly I cannot offer you a chance to meet your counterpart. The First Sea Lord is currently in the Home Isles reviewing the fleet. Vancouver is a beautiful city and I am glad to see it prospering after the hard times of the war."

"And we are glad to be prospering. If you'll join us," Kallon gestured to a set of waiting cars, "We can proceed to the Parliament Building and begin discussions and, perhaps, share a light lunch; if you prefer, however, we could also conduct a tour of the city."

"A tour would be pleasant, after all this is as much a chance to see the globe during peace as well as a diplomatic mission. Though lunch would not go amiss as well." Snow climbed into the car along with his counterpart. "But the discussions take prominence over my urge to see the city."

A brief drive later, the entourages arrived at the Parliament building; finding themselves in a meeting room, they were all offered refreshments.

"Now then, Lord Protector. You say the purpose of this trip is to establish contact with the various nations of the world; is this essentially a brief courtesy visit, or did you have others things you wished to discuss while present?" Kallon inquired.

"There are a few things I wish to discuss. Seeing as your nation was once a part of the Commonwealth of Nations I was wondering if you would like to discuss the possibility of reforming it. I mostly see it as a trade organization. If we can work together to bring all the former nations, and those of the future, into the Commonwealth than it might be possible for our economies to start to recover from the devastation of the war."

Kallon noded, musing. "I can certainly see that being beneficial. I'll begin setting things up here, though I imagine it'll be some time before the Commonwealth is re-established in full... or even in part, for that matter."

"It may take time but hopefully it can be done and our people can once more feel a part of something larger. Of course the first step on that path would be to restore relations back to what they were before the war."
