A Visit to the Slavs Empty A Visit to the Slavs

The HLS Vanguard pulled into port in Yugoslavia. The Lord Protector prepared himself to meet with the Slavs. It was important to make a good impression. The war had just ended and Snow wanted to ensure that the British were respected by the world and that at least most of the world had a positive opinion of them.

Private

In the main room sat the Kralj patiently with two Councilors. Gor Cižek, the man responsible for the Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom, and Josip Broz Tito, the man heralded as the bulwark of the Kingdom despite his age.

The trio rose to their feet as the delegation and the Lord Protector finally entered the room, a polite smile breaking through the Kralj's face as he gave his fellow equal a bow as was customary before extending his hand towards the man. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Lord Protector. If you have need of anything, feel free to request it," he said, taking his seat along with his two comrade-in-arms after any possible requests from the British.

"Now, how can the Kingdom and the Commonwealth establish a dialogue?"

"With peace. I am glad to see Yugoslavia doing well after the war. It is with great joy that I meet with the Slavs who stood strong against the Germans. Now I do wish to discuss the possibility of trade. We wish to become friends with our former allies now that the war is over."

The Kralj glanced at the Marshal for a brief moment, the older man giving the younger a near deferral nod. "Yes," he began, "Yugoslavia as the Commonwealth would know it to be fell to the Germans, only to rise once more under the united leadership of the Ratni Savet Četrnaest."

"Or as the rest of the world would know them, as the War Council of Fourteen," he intoned almost reverently before he continued, "Onwards to the possibility of trade, the Kingdom would welcome said tract down concretely between our countries. Naturally, we also would not turn away the Commonwealth in establishing a friendly, working relationship with the Kingdom," he said, leaving unsaid the more nastier implications of the Second Great War.

"And I once again congratulate you. Your people suffered some of the worst of the war and stood strong." Snow would smile. "And I am glad to hear of your approval. I personally believe the best chance to maintain peace in this new world is for our people to work together to build a stronger future. Only by a joined globe can peace be attained."
